A common problem affecting CPAP users is the ability to travel with their CPAP machine. Although machines are generally much smaller than those of the past, the ability to operate a machine from DC power in cases where no AC outlet is available is still an issue. Also, many users are looking for a solution that can be used when there is a power outage in their home. To answer these issues, we present the Super CPAP Battery Pack.

The Super CPAP Battery Pack is capable of operating ANY CPAP or BiPAP machine on the market today. Some devices will require an inverter because they cannot use DC power directly. However, a great number of CPAP machines are capable of using DC power and can be used directly with this battery pack to provide multiple nights of usage without recharging.

How Does It Work?
CPAP machines that can operate from DC power usually have available a DC power connector cable. Those adapter cables are capable of plugging directly into a cigarette lighter adapter (accessory port) of your car, RV, or generator. Our battery also has a 12-volt accessory port installed directly into the battery. Using your manufacturer's adapter cable, you can plug your machine directly into the battery.

To make it even easier, the Super CPAP Battery Pack also includes an adapter cable (with 3 amp fuse) that can be used with multiple machines including the Respironics M-Series and System One Series devices, and all DeVilbiss IntelliPAP devices. ResMed S8 and S9 series machines require the use of a ResMed Converter or inverter. Fisher & Paykel machines require the use of an inverter.

What Is An Inverter?
An inverter is a small device that can use DC power to provide AC power to appliances that can not use DC power directly. An inverter plugs directly into a DC power source and provides AC outlets just like those you are familiar with in your home. We recommend a 200-Watt inverter (peak of 300W) to be used with ProBasics, and F&P machines.

Can I Use It In Case of Power Failure?
The obvious answer here is, yes. However, this battery pack can also used as a UPS (uninterrupted power supply). Having the battery plugged directly into AC power while your CPAP machine or inverter is plugged into the battery, will give you uninterrupted power during cases of failure or brownout in the home. When the power goes out, your machine will continue to operate without any additional assistance. You won't even wake up!

How Long Will It Last?
The Super CPAP Battery Pack is available in three different Watt-hour capacities: 175Wh, 250Wh, and 444Wh. What is a Watt-hour? Well, it's the amount of watts of power used in one hour. For our purposes, it is easier to relate these batteries to Amp-hours, or the amount of Amps used in one hour. The 175Wh battery equates to 12.5Ah. The 250Wh battery equates to 18.5Ah. An average CPAP or BiPAP uses between 1 and 4 Amps per hour of usage, without humidifier. Calculations have been performed with various CPAP and BiPAP machines to determine the Amps used at different pressure settings. The results of those calculations are presented below. Please use this guide as an estimate only. When using an inverter, usage times will be approximately 20% smaller.

Please note that usage times in these charts are very conservative. For the 444Wh battery, expect to receive a 40% increase in capacity over the 250Wh.

  • ResMed S8 machines REQUIRE the use of the ResMed S8 Converter for DC Power
  • ResMed S9 machines REQUIRE the use of the ResMed S9 Converter. The S9 Converter is part number 36970. The S9 converter is approved to use the humidifier, too. The S9 series of machines can also use a 200-Watt inverter (peak to 300W) with this battery.

    I really like this battery. I have used it for other purposes than CPAP and the stability and ease of use is outstanding. It will run a lamp with a 60-watt light bulb for 4 days continuously before needing recharging. Great for travel.

    I can't say enough about about how satisfied I am with both your service and the CPAP battery. After placing the order with you on Friday, the battery arrived promptly, just prior to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday morning, at the beginning of the hurricane. The power went off in my home at approximately 8:00 that evening, when the battery automatically took over, so I had use of the machine for the next few days. Today (9/1/11) my home is still out of power and water. I can not tell you how thankful I am for your excellent customer service and the quality of CPAP battery pack. I appreciate your going the extra step of looking into the make and model of my unit and informing me of the cord, required to power this specific machine. Overall, I would recommend you, your company and the product to anyone needing your services or products. You were a life saver (literally).

  • Universal Super CPAP Battery Pack

    I received the battery in time and it worked great. We lost power for 36 hours and I did not have to worry about my CPAP. The only issue I noted is the the lights to tell the battery charge work except for the lowest one. Is that by design or an issue? The battery hooked up to my Respironics CPAP with the included adapters. I am extremely happy with the battery. Thanks. EDITOR NOTE: The last light on the battery is a red light that displays when the battery is completely drained.

    The battery works well, except it will not start a dead machine. I was disappointed with this. You need to have the machine powered first and with it still powered you can switch over to just the battery.

  • Universal Super CPAP Battery Pack

    As my husband has ALS and is unable to breath on his own, the battery has allowed him freedom of movement he would otherwise not have. We have been able to put the battery in a tote bag, hook it onto the wheelchair handles and walk around the block. Also, as we had many storms with outages during the summer and it provided a level of comfort for us and we used it during this time. The only problem was the initial setup. It needed to be in the off position before plugging it into the battery. it was a little stressful until we figured that out. Should be in instructions.

  • Universal Super CPAP Battery Pack

    I received this just prior to Hurricane Irene and so glad I did. We lost power for two days and this battery worked perfectly. I thought I would not need it again for awhile until the crazy Halloween snow storm of the northeast. Once again we were out of power for almost two days and the battery was ready to go. I now just have it always hooked up with my CPAP connected to it. Now, if the power ever goes out, I will sleep sound. Still thinking of taking this batter on a trip to Europe with me. Buy this if you are ever worried about a power failure. It is light and seemed to barely lose any charge over a night I used it.

  • Universal Super CPAP Battery Pack

    I purchased this item in a rush the day before Irene hit. You guys were great in supporting me and finding a way to get it to me in time. I've had a couple of instances where I had to use it and I am thankful I had it. The unit works great and an added bonus is I can use it for any device that uses a cigarette light plug in.   • Universal Super CPAP Battery Pack

    I received the CPAP battery the morning that hurricane Irene blew through. It was fully charged in 4 hours. At 2:30am when the electricity went off I was able to easily attach the battery to the CPAP with the use of a flashlight. It worked great. I wish I had obtained one much sooner to get me through the multiple power outages we have had in the past 8 years.

    I did get the battery just before the storm. I appreciate the effort. I tested the battery as soon as I got it and it worked perfectly. We did not lose power during the storm so I never really had a chance to test it out fully. However, it was a big comfort knowing that it was there if I needed it. It is very simple to use and I did not even need the instructions. The unit is sleek and light weight. I think it is a very nice product and would recommend it to anyone with a CPAP.

  • Universal Super CPAP Battery Pack

    We have been using the battery pack daily and it is giving my husband more freedom as he needs the VPap most waking hours. we did have a serious problem with the converter and while customer service was helpful they did not find the problem and offered to send a new one. Fortunately for everyone, my son-in-law realized that the converter needs to be in the off position before plugging it into the VPap. Once this was discovered it has been smooth sailing. Perhaps you should include this in your instruction sheet. Thanks, Elaine

    IT WORKS! I used this after being recommended for the hurricane irene. we live in a very rural environment but we only lost power for 2 days. the battery worked just like they said it would. I didn't use the heater which caused my throat to be dry in this morning but the machine worked all night.
